Akira Sakano is the former President of Zero Waste Academy, a non-profit organization in charge of waste policy in Kamikatsu-cho, Tokushima Prefecture, which was the first town in Japan to declare a "zero-waste" policy. In 2021, he will establish Green Innovator Academy, a human resource development program to create social change toward decarbonization.
